Family Mart #2 : Chicken Teriyaki and Egg Sandwich (RM5.50)
You might be thinking “hmm, is she for real?” Wasting her life by writing reviews about convenience store food. But fret not! It is my life, and you don’t have to worry it! Plus, someone needs to review them! How else would you know what you need to get from your neighbourhood Family Mart (7/11 in the future?).
So today, we’re eating the Chicken Teriyaki and Egg Sandwich!
The sandwich consists of two parts, the Teriyaki Sandwich, and the egg
sandwich. Being a fickle person myself and not being able to decide on food a
lot, makes this a wonderful sandwich choice for people like me. You can have
the fillingness and fulfilment of a chicken sandwich, and a creamy but
refreshing egg sandwich.
Appearances
Anyone whom has watched even a little bit of any anime with
food in it, will agree that the Japanese know how to make things, especially
food look good. Take for example the bacon and eggs in ‘Howls Moving Castle’, it’s
so simple but that shit is mouth-watering!
Japanese brands, in
reality, don’t disappoint either! The Chicken Teri and Egg sando, is packaged
and placed on shelves beautifully! There is something mesmerising about observing
a shelf full of fresh foods, that makes you hungry.
The sandwich itself is also quite seductive, with its contents
centralised and stacked, making for a fuller looking sandwich. I say ‘fuller
looking’ because its filling is not spread out throughout the bread after
further inspection. However, if you redistribute the contents, it covers the
bread evenly.
Shout out to the packaging of this sandwich! It makes it
very easy to eat, open and to hold!
The First Bite.
The first bite of the egg sandwich fills the mouth with
creaminess, I suspect that they use some ilk in the preparation. This results
in a fantastic egg mixture. The bread is slightly sweet but it is a welcoming
factor rather than a burden.
The first bite of the teriyaki sandwich on the other hand,
leave a bit more impact. The sweetness of the bread blends perfectly with the
teriyaki sauce and its saltiness. The chicken is perfectly cooked and not
rubbery (as most convenience store chickens) and the lettuce is legitimately
fresh and crunchy!
If these sandwiches were anime women, the Chicken teriyaki
would be the badass, gun slinging, voluptuous red head, while the Egg sandwich
would be the ‘kawaii’ girl next door, sexy in her own way.
Getting Through it
Family has really gotten to be an expert in portioning as
these sandwiches were very easy to finish. I wouldn’t say that these are a work
of art, but it does a very good job in pleasing the consumer. It is very
obviously freshly made (in the same day), uses good ingredients, and thought
was put into this product before putting it on the shelf. It was easy to finish
and kept me filled for a few hours (I had these for lunch).
One thing to note is that, it is generally more on the
pricey side of things. However, the quality is far more superior than
sandwiches from other convenience store and at times, snack shops.
Verdict
The price on this one affected the score a little, as well
as the uneven distribution of the fillings. These are 2 things that family mart
could consider if they wanted to ameliorate this product
6.9 / 10 😉
